Camping

We all went camping with my parents from Tuesday August 17 - Friday August 20. We had a great time, nice weather and the kids were pretty good! We made it up to the Sawbill Trail Tuesday afternoon, set up camp and had a nice steak dinner. After sitting around the fire and making smores (Nevaeh made hers with 2 hershey bars and marshmallows in the middle) we headed to bed. Nevaeh sleeps great no matter where, Kayhlen woke up screaming in the middle of the night and Barrett did his usual one waking.

Day 2: Mike and my dad took Nevaeh fishing in the BWCA while my mom and I had the little monsters. We took them for two drives in search of wild animals. Besides 100 rabbits, some birds and a pile of scat, we saw nothing. What a disappointment! Oh... and the boys didn't come home with any fish!

Day 3: On Thursday we headed to Grand Marais which was perfect! The sun was shining, not a cloud in the sky and about 65 degrees with a slight breeze! We walked along some rocks, ate at Sven and Ole's and shopped in some stores. The kids loved throwing rocks into the water and Kayhlen was amused by chasing seagulls away from her while holding a rice krispie bar (don't mess with her treats).

Day 4: Well I woke up Friday morning to a leaking tent. This camper was NOT happy! We had a good thunderstorm during the night and it made it's way onto my sleeping bag, pile of clothes, air mattress and tent floor. It's time to retire Mike's 15 year old tent! Mike quickly packed up our camp, we headed to Dad and Mom's tent and shoved the kids inside. Mike and my dad packed up their camp and we headed home.

See you again next year Sawbill... but with a new tent and sweatsuits for every day! Thanks mom and dad for the trip!

  1. Sounds like fun, especially if you like outside! So does Nevaeh not like carbs? No crackers in smores? Love the picture of Kayhlen!

  2. Nevaeh must only pay attention to us opening the Hershey bar for the smores :) They had fun! If we ask Kayhlen if she wants to go camping, she says "Uh huh"
